“Sukie’s Revenge, an unapologetically intersectional repository by choice”

Sukie’s revenge is a “truth-telling womanist resistance” writing collective. 

Sukie’s revenge honors the spirit of Sukie, an enslaved woman who withstood her master’s attempted rape with a punch and a ‘hot pot o’ soap’. In our writings, we confront, educate and defy, dismantling the current institutions of white supremacy and patriarchy and its manifestations: micro-aggressions and misogyny through education, open defiance, and self-reliance.   

Sukie’s revenge unapologetically rejects hegemony since we realize that even as womanists, we, too, must “dismantle and decolonize our own internalized racism and the ways we have privileged whiteness.” Painted on a canvass of prophetic current events, we incite commentary and conversations on the intersections of race, class, and gender. Because our voices are normally silenced, sukie’s revenge is a space where womanists convene and enjoy cathartic discourse. Moreover, we are a space where solutions are curated becoming an active nucleus of lasting change.

We choose to avenge injustice with an arsenal of words and a tank of weaponry.
