Day 20 - Ayanna Pressley

Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley is known for her bold leadership in Congress. In April of 2018, she was elected to represent the 7th district in Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives. She made history by becoming the first woman of color elected from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Congresswoman Pressley is passionate about creating a table for diverse groups of people to be at the forefront of creating policies for various communities. 

I admire Congresswoman Pressley because of her bold leadership style. Her ability to captivate an audience with passion flowing through her eloquent flow is definitely a skill. As a Black woman, it is important to know how to get your point across with few choice words. In society today, Black women have been identified as angry and loud. Congresswomen Pressley is the exact opposite of that stereotype, she is bold, an activist, and a policymaker. 

Ayanna Pressley is a revolutionary Black woman because she recognizes the need for more Black women to not only be seen in various forms of leadership but also heard. Congresswoman Pressley is not afraid to make political statements. She believes that transparency is key in order to achieve a just democracy. With election season quickly approaching, research the elected officials you will vote for. It is imperative that you ensure that their platforms and previous experiences uplifts and empowers your community.
